Today John McCain campaigned on national television on This Week with George Stephanopoulos. George asked a couple of inflammatory questions but allowed McCain to lie without challenging him. Finally, George stated that McCain had criticized Obama in the debate for stating that the US would cross into Pakistan to capture the bad guys if necessary. McCain said one should never speak publicly about such double-top-secret matters like invading an ally.
Then George whipped out a video clip of Sarah Palin in an Irish pub in Philidelphia the evening of the debate. When asked if we would cross into Pakistan in order to root out the bad guys she said "Absolutey, you betcha. Gotta get 'em where they live." (something like that anyway) In George's gotcha moment, when he pointed out McCain's own running mate was speaking publicly about invading Pakistan, McCain demured, "Well, she was talking to some young men, or whoever." Well, that explains it. Sarah Palin is allowed to talk with "young men," or "whoever," about double-top-secret plans to invade Pakistan while cameras and microphones are shoved in her face, but Obama cannot answer a question during a debate without being portrayed as a traitor.
Aplogies to Doris Day and Nick Adams. If I knew how to Photoshop I would insert Palin's head on Doris Day's body and Putin's head on Nick Adam's body.
