I Confess

I have a confession to make.  As happy as I am about the election and this wonderful mood in our nation, I still want to say "F" you to the Republicans.  Each day I few renewed and energized but that does not change this uncontrollable urge to say "F" you.  Not to anyone's face mind you, which makes it even stranger because I am basically hollering it out in an empty room while at home.

Something always triggers it, like some Republican whining about some decision by Barack or the Democrats.  I just shout out, "You said to us, 'F YOU' for eight long years, so everytime we do something that displeases you I am going to say F YOU and laugh my ass off.  Some may call this unhealthy, not letting go and so forth.  I am thus far finding it very cathartic. especially the peels of laughter that come forth after shouting curse words at the television or newspaper.

Here is a prime example of a situation that called for the big F-You-athon.  Kitt Bond was on the tele blathering about how no one in his state wanted the GITMO prisoners transferred there.  He said "Send them to San Francisco!"  Now what  in the hell was that supposed to mean?  He was talking about how dangerous the prisoners from GITMO were and how he did not want them wandering around Missouri if they broke out of prison.  So, I guess Kitt Bond thinks it is fine to have so-called dangerous criminals busting out of prison and attacking folks in San Francisco!  And I am sure San Francisco is code for gays, hippies, dope smokers and whoever the hell else he hates.

Kitt Bond's time has come and gone.  It is our time now.  He can find all the conservative goofballs he wants in Missouri to re-elect his hateful dumbass but right now the progressives are in control and he can rock back and forth with spittle running down the sides of his mouth and moan and groan and hopefully suffer one iota of the agony we went through every damned day for eight years.  The long national nightmare of the likes of Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Feith, Tenet, Rice, Rumsfeld, Abramoff, Delay, Frist, Reed, Perkins, Paulson, Hagee, Fleisher, McClellan, Perino, Hughes, Spelling, Matalin, Limbaugh, Coulter, Ingraham, Rove, Libby, Miller, and the casts of thousands who supported this rape and pillage who are now irrelevant.  Sure, these goombas can still make money spouting out their stupid shit to the morons who still cling to the hope that they will all be resurrected one day, but for the next four years I can shout out F YOU, you do not count right now, so step aside!   I never claimed to be a uniter, that is Barack Obama's job!

Adieu les Criminels

Dick Cheney was hauled out of the White House in a wheel chair today.  The official story is that he sprained his back moving  boxes.  I can buy that. He was probably trying to haul out all of his top secret files.  On the other hand, it could be that he simply refused to leave his office and someone had to tackle him, rendering him stove up.  Maybe  Randy The Ram lept on him or something.

Bush trotted out on his own two feet and was serenaded by a very respectful crowd of five million who sang in unison.  Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye. Gary DeCarlo, Paul Leka and Dale Frashuer wrote the song in the early 1960s, when the three men were members of a Bridgeport, Connecticut band called The Chateaus. (wikipedia)  Hat's off to the Chateaus and the five million Americans who helped the world celebrate the most significant event in American History. 

Peace

  It was announced today that the majority of African Americans believe that Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream has been realized.  That is stunning.  The election of Barack Obama has healed wounds and offered hope and peace on a scale I have never witnessed in my lifetime.

It was announced today that Israel would pull out of Gaza.  Many think it is because Israel does not know how President Barack Obama would react to their foray.  If Barack Obama can create peace just by being, my goodness, I do not know what to think.   I have criticized Obama for not speaking out about the Israeli Hamas conflict earlier but perhaps he did the best thing. 

I can just see the war mongers and the bigots chewing on nails right now.  "Damn, now we have to give peace a chance.  Holy shit, people are running around lovin' one another.  What the hell is going on?  How can we survive this way?  This really hurts.  I don't know if I will ever get over it.  What next? Everybody has to wear tie dye and carry a tambourine?" Hah, all I have to say is "Peace!"

Lonely Labradoodles and Dead Babies

  Suzanne Baroud's beautiful, heart wrenching description of the anguish in Palestine should bring tears to the hardest and stoniest of eyes.   Bush utters very few words.  This is a war he looked forward too.  Condi Rice spews out the cruelest of all words.  No truce until it is lasting. In other words, carnage come hither and mangle what you can, for until we have destroyed enough of their babies, the animals in Palestine simply will not understand.

Barack Obama is silent.  In nine days he will make a statement.  Make that ten days.  I doubt he will disrupt the gaiety of the Inauguration to say anything substantial about war.  How many more will die during the ten days that he waits to make a statement, and then what kind of statement will he make?  He's concerned.  He said so.  The loss of human life concerns him. He's going to try to find a Labradoodle for his girls.  A sheltered Labradoodle.  A cast away dog with no one to love him.  How sweet.  He is concerned.  He said so.  He is a kind man.  One who will stroll through animal shelters looking for that perfect pure bred doggy who some former millionaire threw out in the cold.  Abandoned Labradoodles and dead babies.  Those of a few of the most concerning things.  Concern.  It sounds so banal.

To be accurate, today Barack Obama upped the level of his feelings about the dead babies from concerned to heartbreaking.  Now we are getting somewhere.

Settling Our Differences Without the Sword

The battle between Israel and Palestine is grossly uneven.  America is just emerging from two god awful  terms of George Bush as president and now must extricate ourselves from two immoral wars against Iraq and Afghanistan.  Now Israel is attacking Palestine, their second of two immoral wars in two years.  We do not need to get involved in this war.  I hope Barack will condemn the attacks against Palestine and the UN will call for sanctions against Israel.  We must allow the citizens of Israel to live free from the stranglehold of their war mongering government.  The US emerged from eight years of war mongering and we must demand peace.  An enlightening article about the unevenness of the war that Israel is launching against Palestine was written by Mark Steel and can be read here.

If Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton support this war then we have at least four more years of the same neocon vision that G.W. Bush brought to America.  We need to keep up our protests against these crimes against humanity.  Many Jewish people in Israel and abroad are against this  disproportionate aggression.  We need to join those with clearer heads and oppose the destruction and devastation being wrought upon the women, children and innocent men of Palestine.

Lassie Goes to the Shrink

A comic published in The New Yorker some years back showed Lassie lying on the couch in a Psychiatrist's office.  The Phyciatrist asks Lassie:  Why are you here.  Lassie answers: Because all my life people keep yelling at me, 'Lassie get help, Lassie get help!"

The other day I was reading The New York Times. A man in Tel Aviv was being interviewed about the war between Israel and Palestine.  To paraprase he said that Israel had a nagging feeling for years now that the world no longer viewed them as a military might, but as a paper tiger.  Therefore, they had to flex incredible military muscle to extract fear in order to reduce their vulnerability. 

I read the quote to my husband and he said, "I think what Israel needs is a psychiatrist!"  I agree. Israel, get help!
